Just a random sort of observation. Besides your translations for Lelouch's name, the louche is also the name of the foggy cloud that appears when absinthe is mixed with sugar. Also-- haha, and I think this is more of actual interest-- is the definition of louche that means something morally ambiguous or decadent, which, looking at the etymology of the word in old French, 'locshe', or squinty-eyed. *That* in turn comes from the Latin word 'luscus', which means one-eyed, or blind in one eye. The pronounciation of the word holds true for the way it's said in the anime. Anyway, thought you might find those tidbits interesting, particularly the latter. I wonder how much the one-eyed bit might be foreshadowing. Well, let's hope there aren't too many pseudo-Oedipal references in here. ^^; |
